Privacy Policy

How photos, edit records and optional cloud features handle your information.

Effective and last updated: October 9, 2026

This policy applies to the Framade macOS app and explains information handling in local photo editing, optional OpenAI cloud features, and technical support. Developer and privacy contact: Wang Peng, [email protected].

1. Local photos and editing data

You authorize access to selected folders through the system folder picker and choose whether to copy photos into the library or reference the original files. Photos, thumbnails, editing parameters, the local library database, caches, diagnostics, and generated or exported copies remain on your Mac. The app does not overwrite original photos; exports are saved as new files. Routine organization, cropping, light, color, and portrait editing run locally without uploading photos to the developer.

Photos may contain people, capture times, locations, or other personal information. Photo metadata read locally is used to display and organize photos and for the export options you choose. The app does not collect this information for advertising or tracking.

2. On-device portrait analysis

Portrait editing may use on-device image processing and machine learning to generate facial or body landmarks, outlines, and region masks that help locate editing areas. These results stay on your device and support the edits you choose. They are not used to identify people, create facial identity profiles, or recognize individuals across apps. Occluded or unreliably detected areas are not treated as confirmed joints.

3. Optional cloud features and confirmation before sending

OpenAI cloud features are off by default. Only after you enable a feature, provide your own OpenAI API key, and confirm a request does the app send it over an encrypted connection directly to api.openai.com. Requests do not pass through a developer-operated photo server.

  • Text editing advice uses the Responses API and sends your description and basic editing parameters. This flow does not send a photo file.
  • Generative image editing uses the Images Edits API and sends the image version you confirm in the preview, your prompt, and generation options. Original capture metadata such as GPS is removed before sending. The visible image may still contain people, addresses, or other identifying information.
  • OpenAI receives necessary authentication, network, and request information, including the API key for authentication, the originating IP address, and request content, and processes it under its service rules.

Only send photos you have the right to process, and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information. API usage charges are billed separately to your OpenAI account. Purchasing the app does not include API fees or credits.

4. OpenAI data processing and retention

Cloud requests are served by OpenAI. Processing locations and retention depend on your account, the API used, and applicable service terms, and may involve processing outside your region. The app does not promise zero retention by OpenAI. The provider may retain request data for security, abuse monitoring, service operation, or legal requirements. Disabling a feature or deleting local records does not automatically delete data already sent to OpenAI.

Read the OpenAI API data controls documentation and OpenAI Privacy Policy, and manage applicable data and privacy settings in your OpenAI account.

5. API keys and local retention

Saved API keys are stored in macOS Keychain and used for OpenAI requests you actively confirm. They are not sent to the developer. Your local library and edit records remain until you delete them locally; caches and diagnostics are also managed locally. Uninstalling the app may not delete libraries or exports you saved separately. System backups, cloud drives, or synced folders may back up these local files according to your own settings.

6. Advertising, tracking, and technical support

Framade does not sell personal information, use advertising tracking SDKs, or create profiles for cross-app advertising tracking. No Framade account is required. The developer does not automatically receive your photos, library, API keys, or local diagnostics.

If you email support, we process your email address, problem description, and information you voluntarily include only to respond, resolve the issue, or meet legal obligations, and retain it for as long as those purposes require. Email providers may also process messages under their own rules. Do not include API keys, passwords, or unnecessary private photos in support emails.

7. Your controls and data requests

  • You can continue using local editing without enabling cloud features. You can disable cloud features or remove saved API keys in the cloud editing advice or generative edit copy panels at any time. Text advice and image generation have separate cloud controls.
  • Review descriptions, parameters, or image previews before each request. Canceling confirmation prevents that request from being sent.
  • Manage your library, editing results, and caches through local file management and the app’s controls. Save files you need before deleting anything. Editing does not overwrite original photos.
  • Contact the email address above to request access, correction, or deletion of information supplied to support. The developer cannot remotely access or delete files stored only on your Mac. Manage OpenAI-related requests through your OpenAI account or its support channels.

8. Security and policy updates

The app uses system file permissions, macOS Keychain, and encrypted network connections to protect file access, keys, and cloud transfers. No system can guarantee absolute security. If information handling changes, we will update this page and its date and explain new permissions or consent requirements in the app where needed.
